Queensland Rail workers walk off
ABC news reported that almost 1,300 QR workers walk off their job located in west of Brisbane and 800 QR workshop staff from Redbank. These workers started these industrial actions against the company and sale assets with some influence from their colleagues. It was not enough for one worker, who called for coal trains to be stopped.
“Shut the bastard down,” one of the workers said.
In Rockhampton and Townsville, 500 more workers followed suit. Yet the Queensland Premier Anna Bligh is still composed with what has been happening. “They’re entitled to do that, but I think they have an obligation to do so in a way that’s responsible and reasonable,” she said.
Ms Bligh says next year’s float of QR’s coal and freight business will create more jobs, not lose them.
says the float will be a success.
“I think the Government will be surprised at the tremendous support they get,” said by Stockbroker Tim Crommelin.
Other than the Rail, Tram and Bus union has inhibited its financial support from the ALP in complaint.
