Tips to help you survive your first days in your new job

This is it! You passed the interview, the management likes you and it’s your first day at your job. It’s time now to show them what you’ve got, impressed them with your talent and skill. Show them that they’re not gonna regret hiring you.

First stop; before you leave your house eat your breakfast first. Choose professional clothes that will impress your boss.

At long last you made it to your new workplace. Before you enter take a deep breath and walk in with a smile on your face. Keep your head up and keep in mind to make eye contact. Be respectful and sociable to everyone you encounter, whether it’s the receptionist or the mailroom clerk, your colleagues or your new boss. You belong to this company now and you need to bring up good co-employees relationship.

Establish yourself to those you meet and keep in mind that it’s okay to ask questions. People usually like to help others and it’s more often than not makes them feel good about themselves. This is your first day and it is okay to ask if you’re doing the right thing. I remember a new co-worker who refused all offers of help. I guess she thought it would make her look incompetent to our boss. The effect was that everyone thought she was a snob or a know-it-all and several people even vowed to decline to help her in the future.
