Why shift to new job?

Written by: admin - Posted in: Job Articles

The only thing permanent in this world is change.

Prices, stock exchange, marriage, friendship even taste of foods vary. Like everything around, changes in professional path is inevitable.

No matter how attached you are to a certain job, there is no guarantee that you can have it for a lifetime. Changes in job are influenced by many things. People may shift voluntarily and involuntarily, each clothed with a specific reason.

Here are some few picks why people change jobs under two categories.

SHIFT VOLUNTRILY

Who doesn’t want pay increase? The most common reason why people take a career shift is to look for a greener pasture. When everything is fluctuating yet the salary is stagnant, there exists a valid reason why people shift to new jobs. The raison d’ etre of work is to augment the means to survive. When people look for jobs, either they are looking for something more to help meet both ends. A job that has no reciprocal benefit is much shunned and left behind compared to jobs who give at least a compensable benefit. If the job is not paying, why stick on it?The reason why people work is to get financial capital to survive. Absence of the reason is no reason to stay.

Promotion is the positive light of career shift. This is employee effected and is moving the employee on an upward direction. This voluntary shift is to commend for an outstanding performance, pushing the employee higher. For some inevitable circumstances, family reasons like change in residence or relocation are other reasons why people do a voluntary shift of jobs.

Poor chemistry with the boss and the co-workers is another reason why shifting occurs. During the course of the employee-employer relation, some things are unpredictable to exist. Either both are not reciprocally doing their part or the worse, end up to a tainted relationship. Usually when this happens, the employee looks for a new job.

To some shifting to a new job is taking a new path or being redirected to the right track after a dead end job is one reason for shifting.

INVOLUNTARY SHIFT

When an employee is removed or terminated from office, the act is not a voluntary move on her part. This reason, valid or not is an involuntary career shift. An instance of termination is when the employee committed a grave violation of the company policy, she is stricken out of the privilege. The employee then is left to move to another direction, out from the accustomed maze.

Two classes of termination exist. One is termination with cause or when the company is taking a big leap to lay off employees because of financial constraints in the company to survive. With both, when they exist, the employee has to take steps to get a another career path.
